Its the most wonderful time, of the year.
Here down south, that doesn’t hardly ever mean snow.
At least not the kind you need coats and shovels for.
Our snow blooms.
Cotton Family Portraits have been on my list for the last few years, but it’s kind of hard to plan for.
Much like real snow, it all depends on weather.
The cotton must be fully bloomed (with many of the leaves gone) to be at it’s peak. . .
and while finding that isn’t the hardest part. . .
Scheduling sessions (and actually shooting) before the cotton is CUT is the hardest!
Thankfully, my in-laws have this beautiful field behind their home in Jay, FL so they kept me posted on how it was looking, and made sure each day, it had not been cut.
The kids in the cotton are some of my favorites. Ever.
And to think, that 99 mini images happened in this 20 minutes still kind of blows my mind.
The one thing, I am pretty awesome at, is (with semi-typical kids) being able to get a FULL photoshoot, in twenty minutes. . .
Primarily before everyone loses their FREAKING MINDS and start crying. . . or running around like maniacs.
Granted, not everyone’s babes are perfect (mine included) but MOST can make it through a 20 minute session like champs.
I am sure many of my families leave worried. . .like
HOW DID SHE GET ANY GREAT SHOTS. I FELT LIKE WE JUST RAN AROUND FOR 20 MINUTES.
but 20 minutes of HIGH SPEED SHOOTING is FAR less exhausting than a full hour of crying, pleading, begging and screaming.
Man this session was a dream.
Any dream, that I had for COTTON FAMILY PORTRAITS was fulfilled at this session!
Although I am pretty sure I let the ‘cat out of the bag’ on the newest arrival.
She was far too lovely pregnant, in her FREE PEOPLE dress, not to share!
I feel like this looks like something out of a dream. . .
One day. I’ll have someone.
Do this, for all of us too.
Thank you so much for having me!
