Pensacola Beach Photography [family portraits] by Jordan Burch Photography

I was SO EXCITED to shoot B + her beautiful family:)
She’s a member of this super cool, uber hip MERMAID+TACO TRIBE group,
(that I also happen to be a member in) based solely around our love of a brand of camera bags. . . .
but in knowing that,
I knew there was a good chance, that if we liked the same  bag, we’d probably get along just fine!
[totally true]

She has super thick amazing hair, liquid gold skin, long lashes and lips from a lipstick catalogue.
Her baby girl was even lovelier, with even thicker lashes and a poutier smooch.
Her husband was sweet, and gladly went along with my antics.
[But with two beautiful women to stand beside. . .his job was rather easy]

She’s a photographer which usually means three things.
1.) She would be dressed adorably
2. ) Her kid, would be total nightmare (as most photographer’s kids are)
3.) I’d ramble and act a fool, nervously trying to make sure I didn’t JACK THIS ENTIRE SESSION UP and be mortified. . . that she would hate me. . .and her images
#1 was totally accurate.
She was perfect.
From her simple little nose ring, to the way she interacted with her family. . .
Her dress, their clothes.
They had it going on.

#2 totally inaccurate.
Her babe was precious.
Sure, she kicked sand that we took her BRIGHT BLUE BUCKET and threw it more than a handful of times. . .
but for the most part, she smiled, when I asked.
and even when I didn’t.
She loved the water. The seashells.
Which meant, my job was easy.

#3.  I was nervous,
and I only said PERFFFF or TO DIEEE like 4775889 times, vs my normal 5674 times

I don’t think anything was jacked up though, which is FREAKING. AWESOME.

and honestly, her images are some of my favorite beach images, from this entire year.

[which says a lot, because I feel like this year’s beach sessions have been INCREDIBLE]

{but you guys can be the judge of that}

Dear B.
Thank you so much for having me.
For real.
I am so grateful, that out of so many amazingly talented mermaids, you chose me, to spend the afternoon on the beach, with your family.
If you’re anything like me, you’re a control freak, and having someone else shoot you, can be terrifying, never knowing if how you picture yourself, will match, with the photog (and probably everyone else who sees these image) will see you. . .
But GIRLLLLLLLL . .
It would have been hard to mess you up <3
Truly.
That baby of yours, had skin like butter, and it matched yours almost to a T.
Her lashes when she smiled, and those big ole’ pucker lips had me wondering how in the world you ever sleep. . .
I don’t think I’d ever be able to take my camera off of her. . .

I know you guys have a busy week, then weekend. . .

But when you finally settle back home, I hope this collection of images will bring you back.

To the terrifying cry, before the first photo had ever been taken as we walked onto the beach > > >
“PLEASEEEEEE don’t do this” you pleaded out loud. . .  as I silently thought the same thing. . .

How relieved, we both were, when we realized she just wanted DOWN. . .to play and walk on her own. . .

[instead of kicking and screaming that she didn’t want photos today, like I would have totally expected a photographer’s kid to do . . ]

How she picked up a hundred shells, and carried them around. . .

How her feet left the tinest foot prints everywhere she walked. . .

How she wanted that blue bucket. . in every image. . .

How we asked her to sit her bare butt in the sand, and she did.

And then, when she did it again, without us even asking. . . because. . .well. . .
she liked the water rushing up over tiny little frame. . .

How you swooped her up in the towel once we were all finished and she laid her head into you. . .
How MASSIVE that golden sun was, sinking into a deep pink sky. . as we walked back . .
you stayed a few seconds longer, just to admire it.
And how your hair, framed her sweet face, and those big eyes of hers, for one last shot. . . in the parking lot.

I hope you remember your family, as they were.
As you were.
All, in your  best light:)

Thanks again, for allowing me,
to be the one who gets to show you.

Until next time > >>
all my love,

jb
